The Department of Education (DepEd) has officially announced the schedule and activities for the 2025 National Teachers’ Month (NTM), National Teachers’ Day (NTD), and World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebrations, in coordination with the National Teachers’ Day Coordinating Council (NTDCC) and the National Teachers’ Month Coordinating Council (NTMCC).
Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 067, s. 2025, signed by DepEd Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Fatima Lipp Panontongan, the month-long celebration will run from September 5 to October 5, 2025.
October 5 marks both National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day, as declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 242 and Republic Act No. 10743.
DepEd said that this year’s celebrations will honor the teaching profession by highlighting teachers’ vital role in shaping globally minded citizens, strengthening communities, and contributing to nation-building.
The event also aims to revitalize respect for the teaching vocation, encourage more Filipinos to pursue the profession, and generate broader public support for educators.
Key DepEd activities for NTM 2025
To recognize the dedication and contributions of Filipino teachers, the DepEd Central Office will lead major events, including:
- NTM Kick-off Program – September 7 at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center, Koronadal City
- NTM on the Move: Visayas Edition – September 21 in the Negros Island Region
- National Teachers’ Day and World Teachers’ Day Celebration – October 6 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City
School-based celebrations
DepEd has directed all public and private schools, regional offices, and school divisions to hold localized activities honoring teachers.
On October 5, schools are encouraged to conduct special tributes, including the recitation of the “Prayer for Teachers” (Panalangin Para sa mga Guro).
To raise public awareness, all schools and education offices are required to display official streamers and campaign materials throughout the celebration period.
Support for teachers
DepEd emphasized that the celebration is not only a tribute but also an opportunity to express gratitude to teachers and recognize their positive influence on Filipino learners.
Expenses for school- and community-based activities may be charged to local funds, school board allocations, parent-teacher associations, and other available resources.
For the past two years, “Together4Teachers” has served as the theme of DepEd’s NTM celebration, underscoring the collective effort to support and recognize the critical role of teachers in education and nation-building.
