Trader, driver hurt as delivery truck falls into ravine in Nueva Vizcaya
A driver and a businesswoman were injured after their delivery vehicle loaded with tomatoes plunged into a ravine in Barangay Kirang, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya, on Friday, Sept. 5.
Police said the delivery vehicle driven by Johnny Diclas, 45, was on its way to Aritao when it figured in the accident.
The vehicle fell into the ravine about 50 meters deep.
Police said Diclas might have failed to notice the road which earlier collapsed and was just completed last May.
Diclas and Augusta Dencio were taken to a hospital in Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya.
The vehicle and its cargo of about 70 crates incurred undetermined amount of damage.
Authorities were asked to place barriers or warning signs in the area, which is isolated and has no cellphone signal, to avoid another accident.
Hours earlier on Thursday night, Sept. 4, a Florida bus collided with a pickup truck on the national highway in Aritao.
Videos of the incident were uploaded and shared online.
Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
