Song Joong-ki, Chun Woo-hee star in new series 'My Youth'
Korean actor Song Joong-ki and actress Chun Woo-hee star in the new series “My Youth” premiering on Sept. 5.
Song Joong-ki plays the role of Sun Woo-hae, a florist, who meets again his former girlfriend, Sung Je-yeon (Chun Woo-hee), a team leader at a company.
During a press conference for the drama on Sept. 4, Song Joong-ki said he is “excited to be doing a melodrama again after such a long time.”
“Melodrama is a genre I’ve always had a strong desire for as an actor. It was an honor to finally come across a script that made my heart flutter again,” he added, the Korea Herald reported.
Song Joong-ki has starred in “Vincenzo,” "Reborn Rich," “Bogota: City of the Lost” and “My Name Is Loh Kiwan.”
“Looking back at the characters I’ve played, most of them weren’t rooted in reality. I wanted to try portraying a more ordinary, everyday character that could actually exist in real life. That’s when I encountered 'My Youth,'” he explained.
He described “My Youth” as a “reunion romance.”
Song Joong-ki said he felt pressured about the outcome of “My Youth” although it “isn’t that heavy.”
“I’m not the type to dwell too much on results, but now that I think about it, it does feel pressurizing. Thankfully, my last project was loved so much, and I only saw that as a good thing. It’s given me a sense of responsibility to do well,” he said
“My Youth” will premiere on Viu on Sept. 5.
