During the recent wire clearing operations along Camia Street in Makati City, Makati Mayor Nancy Binay emphasized the importance of the collaborative effort between the local government units (LGUs) and private sector to the success of the initiative. She also reiterated the responsibility of all pole users, including telecommunications and internet service providers, to secure the necessary permits before using Meralco facilities. For this year alone, the power distributor already removed more than 2,000 kilograms of unauthorized wire attachments in Makati City.
Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga, meanwhile, reiterated the power distributor’s proactive measure to promote public safety and reliable service, saying: “Meralco will continue to conduct more operations like these with the help of the LGUs to maintain not only the integrity of our distribution facilities but most importantly to ensure everyone’s safety.”
