The Malabon City government announced on Friday, Sept. 5, the opening of nominations for the 40th “Gintong Parangal” awards, which honor outstanding citizens whose achievements have contributed to the city’s progress.
According to the city government, the event, “40 Taon: Pagpupugay sa Nakaraan, Pagyabong ng Kinabukasan,” marks four decades of recognizing individuals whose talents, dedication, and service have inspired fellow Malabueños.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the awards reflect the city’s gratitude to residents who continuously share their abilities for the betterment of the community.
“Sa ating pag-abot sa ating layunin na patuloy na umunlad ang Malabon, una para sa atin ang pagkakaisa at tagumpay. Kasabay nito, ating pinahahalagahan ang kontribusyon ng mga mamamayan sa sama-sama nating pag-ahon (As we strive for Malabon’s continued progress, we put unity and shared success at the forefront. Equally, we value the contributions of our citizens in lifting our community together),” she said.
Sandoval added that the awards provide a platform to recognize individuals whose work inspires others.
“Binuksan natin ang nominasyon para sa Gintong Parangal upang kilalanin ang mga natatanging Malabueño na nagbahagi ng kanilang galing, dedikasyon, at paglilingkod sa kanilang mga larangan na siyang naging inspirasyon sa bawat residente ng ating lungsod (We have opened the nominations for the Gintong Parangal to honor exceptional Malabueños whose talent, dedication, and service in their fields have become a source of inspiration for the people of our city),” the mayor said.
The program is organized by KaSaMa Inc., a coalition of civic groups led by former Congressman Ricky Sandoval, in partnership with the city government.
According to the local government, the awards will be given in the following categories:
Gawad Pagkilala – for students with notable achievements such as Latin honors, passing board or bar examinations, earning doctoral degrees, or receiving international recognition.
Outstanding Citizens of Malabon – divided into two distinctions:
Dangal ng Malabon (Hall of Fame), for individuals who have consistently brought pride to the city through significant accomplishments and public service.
Huwaran ng Malabon is for residents who excel in specific fields and serve as role models for addressing social needs.
The city government said that nomination forms and criteria can be accessed through a QR code posted on Mayor Jeannie Sandoval’s official Facebook page.
It added that entries must be submitted along with supporting documents to the Philippine Red Cross Malabon Chapter in Barangay Potrero on or before Sept. 15.
The awarding ceremony will be held on Nov. 15.
Sandoval emphasized that the Gintong Parangal is not only a form of recognition but also a way of highlighting values that strengthen the city’s families and communities.
“Ito ay isang mahalagang hakbang dahil hindi lang natin kinikilala ang mga natatanging Malabueno sa kanilang mga naging mahalagang ambag sa ating lipunan, kundi ay naipapakita rin natin ang kakayahan, puso, at serbisyong nakikita at nararamdaman ng bawat tahanan o pamilya sa lungsod (This is a significant step, as it not only honors outstanding Malabueños for their meaningful contributions to our community, but also highlights the talent, passion, and service that touch and make a difference in every home and family in the city),” the mayor said.
