The Makati City government received a “Highly Functional” rating in the 2025 Local Committee Against Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) Functionality Assessment, Mayor Nancy Binay announced on Friday, Sept. 5.
The city scored 101 out of 110 points, reflecting strong implementation of programs that protect women and children from abuse and human trafficking.
The assessment evaluated organization, meetings, policies, budget allocation, and accomplishments, where Makati earned near-perfect marks.
Binay said the recognition underscores the city’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable sectors.
“This achievement reflects the city’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children from all forms of violence,” she said.
Among the city’s initiatives are case management services for survivors of trafficking and abuse, cash assistance for individuals in difficult circumstances, gender-responsive case management training, and awareness campaigns such as the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women and the Makati Women’s Day Celebration.
The evaluation was conducted by the Regional Inter-Agency Monitoring Team- National Capital Region (NCR), composed of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Justice - Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ–IACAT), and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
