The cloud cluster being monitored over the West Philippine Sea developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) on Friday morning, Sept. 5, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The LPA, located 85 kilometers west-southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur at 8 a.m., has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
As of Friday morning, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are also being experienced in Western Visayas.
Meanwhile, similar conditions may prevail over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
