BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested on Tuesday a 37-year-old construction worker for allegedly molesting his minor cousin in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, Sagay police chief, said that the suspect was served an arrest warrant for two counts of rape and two counts of acts of lasciviousness in relation to Section 5 of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act. Section 5 of RA 7610 refers to child prostitution and other sexual abuse.
The warrant with no bail recommended was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 73 in Sagay City, according to the police.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) tagged the suspect as sixth most wanted person in the region.
Police said the suspect’s arrest is a clear and powerful message that lawbreakers have no place in Negros Island.
PRO-NIR urged the public to remain vigilant and actively support law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or unlawful activities.
