Two men were arrested by the Makati City Police for robbing a call center agent in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City, on Friday, Sept. 5.
Col. Reycon Garduque, Makati City Police Station Intelligence Section officer in charge, identified the suspects as alias Melvin, 25, and alias Angelo, 23. Both are residents of Sta. Ana, Manila.
Based on the police report, the victim was walking along the sidewalk when four motorcycle-riding men approached him, pointed guns at him, and robbed him of his jewelry, including a necklace and bracelet worth P33,000.
Roving police officers near the area witnessed the robbery, prompting them to pursue the suspects and arrest two of them. Melvin and Angelo's cohorts managed to escape from the police.
Recovered from their possession were a .9mm pistol with live ammunition, a replica pistol, two helmets, and the stolen jewelry.
Further investigation revealed that both suspects have prior criminal records.
Alias Angelo has been arrested multiple times in Makati and Manila for robbery and anti-gambling cases, dating back to when he was still a minor.
Melvin, on the other hand, was previously arrested in connection with anti-gambling cases and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, among other offenses recorded from 2021 up to 2025.
"The suspects are presently detained and facing charges for violation of Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery), Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and Republic Act 11235 (Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act)," Garduque said.
SPD District Director Brig. Gen. Randy Arceo lauded the swift action of the responding police personnel and highlighted the importance of the continuing operations.
“This accomplishment clearly demonstrates the vigilance and readiness of our police to act decisively against criminals who prey on innocent civilians. The arrest of these repeat offenders serves as a stern warning to those who persist in their unlawful activities. Rest assured, our intensified operations will continue until the two other suspects who escaped are apprehended and brought to justice,” Arceo said.
