House of Representatives Spokesperson Princess Abante has confirmed on Thursday, Sept. 4 that Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co isn't in the country.
Abante announced this in a press conference at the House of Representatives after a reporter asked for Co's whereabouts.
"I made an initial inquiry sa Office of the Secretary General, sa pagkaka-alam ko (as far as I know), he's currently out of the country," said the lawyer-spokesperson.
"I understand he is, nasa United States siya (she's in the United States) for medical treatment with appropriate travel documents," she noted.
"Kung ano yung mga travel documents na iyon, wala pa akong copy (As to what those travel documents are, I don't have cooy)," Abante added.
Asked about the details of Co's departure and return, Abante said she didnt have them yet.
"I have to coordinate with them further to be able to get more information and once I have that, I will of course share it with all of you."
Co served as House Committee on Appropriations chairman for the majority of the previous 19th Congress. He stepped down from this post in January 2025, citing medical reasons.
The appropriations committee is the panel that handles the deliberations on the national budget. Some of Co's colleagues in the 20th Congress are seeking him out for clarifications about the current P6.352-trillion General Appropriations Act (GAA).
