Tucked away on the lower ground floor of The Annex at SM City North EDSA in Quezon City is a specialty salon dedicated to scalp care. A global franchise that originated from Malaysia, Meinas Scalp Solutions arrived in the Philippines in 2011 and has since been consistently helping clients address a variety of scalp concerns.
Expanding access
Despite operating in the Philippines for over 14 years—a feat in itself—many Filipinos are still unfamiliar with Meinas, largely due to having only one location. In the past year, the brand has expanded its reach with the opening of two new branches—one in Greenhills Mall, San Juan, and another in SM Mall of Asia, Pasay.

“Scalp care has long been overlooked, but it’s actually the foundation of healthy hair. Many people struggle with scalp concerns without knowing how to address them, and that’s why we’re expanding—to make proper scalp care more accessible to those who need it,” marketing manager Christine Ong tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.
Scalp concerns
When asked about the most common scalp concerns among Filipinos, Christine revealed that they include dandruff, hair fall, thinning, and an oily scalp. And all of these can be alleviated with their signature and bestselling seven-step scalp treatment.
“It is designed to bring the scalp back to its healthiest state,” Christine muses. “When the scalp is healthy, issues such as dandruff, oiliness, or hair fall naturally improve and become more manageable. It’s also great for people who don’t have scalp issues but want to prevent them and maintain overall scalp wellness.”

Customized care
The treatment begins with a scalp consultation to assess the client’s specific needs. After that, the seven-step process starts with a scalp massage using their signature wooden health comb, designed to stimulate circulation. This is followed by seamud therapy to cleanse the scalp, and oxygen therapy to revitalize and detoxify. This is the most interesting part, as you get to breathe pure oxygen for about 10 minutes. Christine explains, “This promotes scalp circulation and nourishment, creating a refreshed environment that supports healthier hair growth.”
Next, a herbal scalp cleanser is applied to boost hair growth, reduce dandruff, balance oil production, and minimize hair fall. The fifth step involves massaging a herb botanical cleanser into the scalp, followed by the infusion of a herb tonic using the Oxy-Life machine for deep nutrient absorption. The final step uses the One-Infusion machine to seal in the herb tonic and enhance the absorption of nutrients into the hair and scalp.
Christine recommends availing of this treatment once a month for mild scalp issues, or weekly for more severe concerns. Other available services include the Scalp Remedy, which hydrates and nourishes the scalp, and the CoQ10 Scalp Anti-Aging Treatment, which detoxifies and helps combat scalp aging and hair thinning. Prices start at ₱2,380, with packages available for greater savings. Each session typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, so it’s best to set aside ample time for a relaxing experience.
