BACOLOD CITY – A policeman was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the eye while responding to a stabbing incident in Barangay Milagrosa, Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental on Wednesday night, Sept. 3.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region said the police officer was arresting the suspect in his house when he suddenly attacked him with a knife and was hit in the right eye.

The victim with a rank of police executive master sergeant was taken to a hospital in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental.
A medical report said that a major artery in the victim’s eye was hit and caused heavy bleeding.
Medical procedures were performed to stabilize his condition before he was referred to a hospital in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
The suspect fled and was arrested by lawmen near a river in the barangay. He is now under police custody.
The suspect initially stabbed a 58-year-old woman after she refused to sell him liquor.
Instead of going home, the suspect threatened to destroy the woman’s store, and immediately grabbed her by her hands and stabbed her seven times, according to the police. The victim is recuperating in a hospital.
The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office assured that appropriate charges will be filed against the suspect.
