Rep. Paolo Duterte, son visit FPRRD at The Hague

DAVAO CITY – Davao City first district Rep. Paolo Duterte and son, acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte II, arrived at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, to visit former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
While Vice Mayor Duterte could not enter the facility, he accompanied his father and his aunt, Veronica Duterte, who went inside. Next week, it will be the vice mayor’s turn to reunite with his grandfather, his older brother, second district Rep. Omar Vincent, and their younger sister, Isabelle.
Veronica, the youngest daughter of the former President, confirmed this in an interview with Alvin & Tourism.
She said that once Rep. Paolo departs from The Hague, going back to the Philippines, the patriarch’s grandchildren will take over the visitation.
“As we all know, the ICC advised us to refrain from sharing too much information about former President Duterte. So, all I can say is that he is good and alive,” Veronica said. “He is looking forward to the coming visits of other family members – his grandchildren.”
Veronica said her nieces and nephews will arrive this week or next. She added that once they are all here, she will guide them on how visits are conducted and what they should do, and she will instruct them on the usual needs of their grandfather.
“Health-wise, President Duterte looks the same. Since most of his family is here to visit, it strengthens him mentally, physically, and emotionally,” Veronica said, assuring that her father is smiling following the random reports about her from her older brother, Rep. Paolo.
“Cong. Pulong keeps teasing me on things I didn't even do. It was like normal discussions with an older brother and father. The three of us had a light conversation. We told him (FPRRD) of the schedules of the family members arriving soon,” she added.
Vice President Sara Duterte earlier reported that the family is no longer allowed to share specifics about their visits to the patriarch, aside from confirming that he is alive. She said the detention facility reminded them of strict conditions, including not sharing any updates from inside.
