'Habagat' to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Metro Manila, other Luzon areas
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Sept. 4 said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over some parts of Luzon within the next 24 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said there is currently no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone within the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning.
The habagat will be the prevailing weather system that may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, and Cagayan.
Meanwhile, the habagat may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon.
Similar conditions may prevail over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
The public is advised to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
