As the competition between international and Filipino drag queens heats up on “Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale,” so does its fashion game. Leading the pack in grand style moments this season is none other than its host, Paolo Ballesteros. For the fourth episode of the drag reality competition series, Paolo once again put a quirky twist on the classic terno look.
Designed by Eman Riñoza, the ensemble features a ruched bodice and one-shoulder butterfly sleeves. Adding a touch of glam to the look are the cascading crystal embellishments. What truly pushed the outfit into drag territory was its headpiece, resembling piles of laundry in a washbasin, paired with bedazzled clothespin earrings.
According to the designer, the look was inspired by Fernando Amorsolo’s “Lavandera” painting and pays homage to “our mothers and grandmothers gathered by the river to wash clothes—turning a daily chore into a moment of laughter, community, and quiet grace.”
“Lavandera is a love letter to simple life—remembering where we came from, finding beauty in quiet moments, and honoring every Filipina,” Eman posted on Instagram.
The beauty of drag lies in how it can weave culture and style through a maximalist lens—and Paolo’s looks are a testament to that. We can’t wait to see what else he serves this season.
