Nerissa Meneses, wife of volleyball coach Sherwin Meneses, clarified on Wednesday, Sept. 3, that the contract of her husband with the National University Lady Bulldogs was only up for one year.
Dashing all speculations of the mentor’s sudden exit from the UAAP title favorites, Nerissa wrote on social media that Sherwin’s departure came in good terms with the NU side.
“Just to set the record straight — He only signed a one-year contract with NU, which has now concluded,” Nerissa said.
“There is no issue or conflict with the NU management—he holds the institution and its leadership in the highest regard,” she added.
With Meneses’ exit, Regine Diego, also a former PVL coach, has been linked to be the next tactician for the Sampaloc-based squad which is the defending back-to-back women’s champion.
Diego's impending appointment as NU’s coach would be the fifth change in leadership in a span eight years for the Lady Bulldogs.
Replacing Norman Miguel, Sherwin marked his return to the collegiate scene with a Season 87 crown.
Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon were among the key players that helped the squad hurdle De La Salle in the finals.
