The Manila city government assured the city's senior citizens that they will continue to receive their nutrition supplement drink as part of its boosted efforts in ensuring their health and wellness.
According to the city government, officials from Abbott, the supplier of Ensure milk that is being given by the city government to the city's elderly, met with Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Tuesday, Sept. 2, to strengthen its ties with the city in promoting proper nutrition for senior citizens.
During the meeting, Abbott's Government and Policy Affairs Director Rachel Queenie Dizon-Rodulfo and Elena Tillman, the company's Rapid Diagnostics General Manager, shared with Domagoso some of Abbott's additional aids for Manileños, including medicines for epilepsy, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health.
The company also provided flu vaccines, HIV test kits, and vaccines for the youth.
"Ang mga ito ay bahagi ng kanilang programang pangkalusugan upang makatulong sa iba't ibang pangangailangan ng komunidad. Kaisa ng pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila ang Abbott sa layuning gawing malusog at ligtas ang bawat Manileño (These are part of their health program to help with various community needs. Abbott is one with the Manila city government in the goal of making every Manileño healthy and safe)," Domagoso said.
The mayor explained that the distribution of Ensure milk drinks to the city's elderly started during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 as part of the city's aid package.
It has since then been a part of the city government's regular aid distribution for senior citizens.
