LTO places motorcycle under alarm over dangerous stunts of rider along public road
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) summoned on Wednesday, Sept. 3, the registered owner of a motorcycle in the viral video of dangerous stunts of its rider along a public road.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said they already issued a show cause order (SCO) against the owner of the motorcycle as part of the investigation which was also aimed at determining if the owner was the one performing the stunt.
“We are yet to determine if the owner was the one who was doing the motorcycle stunt. But whether or not he was the one in the video, he has to explain why his motorcycle has no license plate,” said Mendoza.
Mendoza said the incident was monitored on social media, wherein a rider was seen performing stunts, dancing, and other acts which the LTO describes as reckless.
“There is a proper place for this and certainly, public roads are not included,” said Mendoza.
He said the rider, once identified, will be slapped with charges of reckless driving and being an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle, with a maximum penalty of license revocation.
The registered owner, on the other hand, is charged with a case of Failure to Attach Motor Vehicle License Plate and was also asked to appear before the LTO Central Office on Sept. 9 along with the written explanation.
