Dizon, not Magalong, is expected to grace next infra comm hearing--Ridon

Between Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and newly-installed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, the House Infrastructure Committee (Infra Comm) is expecting the latter to attend its next hearing on the flood control projects controversy.
This was bared by infra comm overall chairman, Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon just minutes after the joint panel ended its first hearing on the matter Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Attending the first part of the hearing Tuesday was the just--resigned DPWH chief Manuel Bonoan, whom Dizon officially replaced on the same day.
Asked in a chance interview I'f Bonoan would be invited again, Ridon said, "I think si Secretary Dizon na po (I think it's Secretary Dizon's term)."
"He actually mentioned po na (that) he couldn't go today kasi nga may (because he has to attend a) turnover. So hopefully he is ready in the next hearing po to present napo yung (the) reforms he will institute in DPWH," he noted.
Bonoan left the infra comm hearing early Tuesdy in order to formally turn over the reins to Dizon.
As for Magalong, Ridon said he wasn't invited to the next infra comm hearing. In fact, he wasn't even invited to Tuesday's proceedings.
"I think in due time, not in the next hearing," Ridon said when asked by solons if Magalong would make an appearance soon.
"But I think we have to be able to show the nation also that we are serious about not doing a scattershot investigation here," he said.
"I think that's something we have achieved today despite the delay this morning na mayroon pong proseso, mayroon pong lohika, may aktwal pong planong magpanagot ang Kongreso po dito sa usapin ng flood control (there is a process, there is logic, Congress has an actual plan to exact accountability on the flood control issue).
"This is an investigation on actual flood control projects," Ridon stressed.
Magalong had earlier dismissed the House of Representatives' inquiry on anomalous and "ghost" flood control projects as "moro-moro" or a farce.
The Baguio mayor has alleged that the DPWH, contractors, and lawmakers collude with each other in order to earn massive kickbacks from these questionable projects.
Ridon has yet to announce the date of the next infra comm hearing.
