Low-cost carrier AirAsia is betting big on its Cebu hub with the launch of five new domestic and international flights during the peak holiday season.
Starting Nov. 15, AirAsia will mount flights from Cebu to Davao, Caticlan, and Iloilo. The airline will also offer flights to Macao and Kuala Lumpur from Cebu.
Flights to these destinations will utilize Airbus A320 aircraft, which can accommodate up to 180 passengers.
AirAsia Aviation Group Chief Commercial Officer Amanda Woo said these new services reflect the Malaysia-based airline’s commitment to exploring new gateways for the Philippines.
“This shall allow travelers from the southern part of the country to directly access over 136 destinations across Asean, North Asia and Europe via our mega hub in Kuala Lumpur,” said Woo.
AirAsia points to its Cebu hub from Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) as a key driver to its continued expansion in the country.
“We recognize the value of this very important route, connecting via Cebu to key domestic and international leisure markets,” said AirAsia Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Suresh Bangah.
To promote the new flights, AirAsia will launch a ₱1 sale to further boost demand to a season where travelers often fly out for vacation.
The airline said travelers can book for as low as ₱1 one-way base fare, exclusive of fees and surcharges, starting Sept. 3 to 14. The travel period for this promo will span Nov. 15 to March 28, 2026.
The sale will cover flights from Cebu to Davao, Caticlan, and Iloilo.
For Macao and Kuala Lumpur via Cebu, tickets may be booked for as low as ₱888 one-way base fare.
AirAsia is targeting to hit 7.5 million passengers this year, after serving three million passengers from January to June.
Domestically, the strongest routes during the first half of have been Cagayan, Cebu, and Caticlan. For the international front, this includes Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
