Vice President Sara Duterte has expressed his interest to visit former vice president and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo when she visits Bicol Region for the Peñafrancia festival there.

She told former presidential spokesman Harry Roque in an interview in The Hague, Netherlands that attending the festival will be one of her first stops upon returning to the Philippines.
Asked if she plans to meet with Robredo, whom she visited in Naga City last year during the same festival, Duterte answered that they have yet to finalize the schedule.
“Hindi pa namin nagawa ‘yung schedule namin. Pero yes, gusto sana namin na ma- meet yung mga local government officials ng --- hindi lang ng Naga, ng entire Bicol Region, kung kakayanin ng schedule (We have not finalized the schedule there. But yes, we want to meet the local government officials of not just Naga, but the entire Bicol Region, if schedule permits),” she said.
This year, the Peñafrancia Traslacion Procession will be held on Sept. 12 at the Old Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia-Naga Metropolitan Cathedral.
The festival attracts devotees from across the country, and is often visited by politicians and other government officials.
Duterte stressed, though, that her intent in visiting Bicol Region is to celebrate with the Bicolanos and attend small sectoral gatherings to address issues prevalent in the region.
“But mainly, nandoon kami (we are there) to celebrate with the Bicolanos. To pray with the Bicolanos sa pinakamalaking festival nila, ang (in their biggest festival, the) Peñafrancia Festival,” the Vice President added.
Last year, Duterte and Robredo turned social media abuzz when they were photographed during the former’s visit in the latter’s home in Naga City.
