Drunken pa accidentally shoots 6-year-old daughter dead in Victorias City
SANTA ANA
BACOLOD CITY – A six-year-old girl died after she was accidentally shot by her 32-year-old intoxicated father at their temporary residence in Barangay 10, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Police Lt. Col. Terrence Paul Santa Ana, Victorias City police chief, said her father was playing a firearm during a drinking session when he accidentally pulled the trigger and wounded his daughter who was just passing by.
The victim sustained bullet wounds in the face and was declared dead in a hospital.
Santa Ana said they arrested her father but he was released on Monday morning, Sept. 1, after his wife executed an affidavit of non-interest to press parricide charges.
The father said that the weapon was a homemade 12-gauge shotgun, but police said that it could be a .38 caliber firearm due to bullet wounds.
However, her father reportedly threw the weapon to the river and police have not recovered it.
Santa Ana said the father is a resident of Calatrava, Negros Occidental and working in Victorias City as hacienda watchman and living with his family.
