LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Two teenage boys drowned while swimming in a dam in Oas, Albay over the weekend.
Police said victims went swimming with a companion amid heavy rain on Aug. 31 and the strong river current swept the trio away.
One of the victims, identified as “Bert,” 18, drowned and his body was found .
His younger brother, 16, was reported missing and authorities on Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, recovered his body past 9 a.m. on the Cabilogan River after three days of search and retrieval operations.
Roderick Mendoza, officer-in-charge of the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO), said their companion survived and managed to call for help from residents and a rescue operation was launched for the victims.
