TABACO CITY, Albay – A tricycle driver and his passenger were killed and three others were injured after a cargo truck reportedly lost its brakes and collided with parked tricycles in Barangay Quinastillo here on Tuesday morning, Sept. 2.
Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Argie Bosqui, 30, driver of the tricycle, and Domingo Villanueva, 50, passenger of the tricycle.
Calubaquib said the victims were pronouced dead on arrival in a hospital.
Injured were fellow passengers Eva, 51; Princess, 23, and a three-year-old minor who are now being treated in a hospital.
Initial investigation disclosed that the brakes of the cargo truck driven by Domingo Biando Villoso, 46, traveling from Ligao City to Tabaco City, allegedly failed and hit the victims' tricycle.
The truck also hit another tricycle.
Police cited "lost brakes, human error, and reckless driving" as the causes of the incident.
All three vehicles involved in the collision incurred significant damage and been impounded at the Tabaco City Police Station for proper disposition.
