Newly appointed Department of Public Works and Highways (DWPH) Secretary Vince Dizon took his oath of office before President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in Malacañang on Monday, Sept. 1.
Malacañang confirmed that Dizon replaced Manuel Bonoan, who resigned on Aug. 31 and expressed support for the President’s call for accountability, transparency, and reform within the agency.
Dizon, who previously headed the Department of Transportation (DOTr), assumed the post amid corruption allegations over flood control projects.
Lawmakers claimed that several contracts were marred by questionable bidding processes and alleged collusion among DPWH insiders, contractors, and legislators.
Marcos expressed confidence in Dizon’s appointment, citing his performance in the DOTr, where he “set the stage for all the things that need to be done.”
He tasked him to conduct a full organizational sweep of DPWH to address mounting concerns on transparency and fund utilization.
The Palace said Dizon is expected to ensure that public funds are used solely for infrastructure that “truly protects and benefits the Filipino people.”
