Emergency responders in the Muntinlupa City government are on duty despite the cancellation of government work on Sept. 1.
“Tuloy pa rin ang trabaho ng ating mga emergency responders—rescue teams, health workers, peace and order personnel—na nakaalerto at handang magserbisyo sa gitna ng anumang sitwasyon (Our emergency responders—rescue teams, health workers, peace and order personnel—who are alert and ready to serve in the midst of any situation—still continue their work),” the city government announced.
In addition, the Muntinlupa Local Civil Registry Office is open until 4 p.m. on Sept. 1 to serve the public.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools, and government in the following areas: National Capital Region, Albay, Antique, Bulacan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Cavite, Laguna, Masbate, Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, Occidental Mindoro, Pampanga, Quezon, Rizal and Sorsogon.
The suspension of classes and work was based on the advisory by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) about heavy rains and possible flooding.
Netizens complained that the suspension of classes was announced late by the DILG as many students were already in school.
“Bat naman po Late na sayanq pamasahe (What was it announced late. It was a waste of fare),” one netizen commented.
Another wrote, “Salamat po sa late na suspension nasa school na po kami (Thanks for the late suspension, we are already at school).”
