The Embassy of India in Manila commemorated the 79th Independence Day of India with a vibrant celebration held on August 15, at India House. The event began with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony led by Ambassador Shri Harsh Kumar Jain attended by members of the Indian diaspora, dignitaries, and friends of India.
Ambassador Jain warmly welcomed the guests and read the official address of President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, delivered to the nation on the eve of Independence Day.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jain emphasized the historic significance of the recently declared India–Philippines strategic partnership, announced during the state visit of the Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. to India from August 4 to 8. He noted that this milestone would deepen bilateral cooperation across a wide spectrum of sectors—including trade and investment, defense and security, science and technology, agriculture and health, culture and tourism, space and maritime affairs, and people-to-people exchanges. This partnership, he said, marks the beginning of a dynamic new chapter in India–Philippines relations, promising multifaceted and impactful collaboration for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The celebration was enriched by a series of cultural performances that showcased the diversity and vibrancy of Indian traditions. Highlights included a graceful Kathak dance by Sweta Thakur, a spirited performance by the children of Sathya Sai School, and an energetic Bhangra and patriotic songs presented by the Filipino Indian Commerce & Welfare Society Inc. These performances reflected the enduring friendship and cultural ties between India and the Philippines.
To further engage the community, the Embassy also launched the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, encouraging individuals to share photos with the Indian flag on social media—fostering a sense of unity and pride among Indians worldwide.
