QC gov't backs Sec Vince Dizon's appointment as DPWH chief
On Sunday, August 31, the Quezon City government expressed full support for Secretary Vince Dizon's appointment as the new head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
In a statement, the city government cited Dizon’s track record in various national positions.
“Secretary Dizon has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in every national responsibility entrusted to him. In each role, he has delivered transformative results that directly benefited our people and strengthened public trust in government institutions,” the statement read.
The local government said it is confident that Dizon’s stewardship of DPWH will strengthen transparency, accountability, and efficiency in infrastructure programs. It also expressed optimism that he would advance science-based and community-driven solutions to flooding, including the possible adoption and scaling of Quezon City’s Drainage Master Plan.
“These reforms are crucial in ensuring that every peso of public funds is maximized for infrastructure that safeguards lives, protects property, and builds resilience in the face of climate change,” the city government added.
The statement also extended appreciation to outgoing DPWH Secretary Manny Bonoan for his years of service and contributions to the department.
“The Quezon City Government conveys its full support and active cooperation with Secretary Dizon and the entire DPWH as we work together toward building safer, more inclusive, and future-ready infrastructure for all Filipinos,” it said.
