CALAUAG, Quezon – A 58-year-old farmer was stabbed to death by a 49-year-old man during an altercation on Saturday evening, Aug. 30, in Barangay Biyan here.
Police said the victim Jose and Jacinto Targa were having a heated argument and a fistfight when the suspect Gerry appeared and stabbed Jose multiple times with a bladed weapon.
Jose was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Gerry was arrested by the police in a follow-up operation and faces a murder complaint.
Meanwhile, a nine-year-old girl drowned while swimming at Agos River in Barangay Banglos, General Nakar, Quezon on Friday afternoon, Aug. 29.
Police said the victim was swimming with her sister and playmates when she suddenly submerged due to the strong current.
Authorities searched and located her body on Saturday morning.
