This came after Philippine officials partnered with Global Investment Council (GIC) to organize an investment mission due to the symposium organized by the Philippine Embassy in Beijing and the Department of Trade and Industry-Philippine Trade & Investment Center last Aug. 22.
Philippine Ambassador Jaime FlorCruz described the symposium as an opportunity to create new partnerships and explore opportunities to bring further prosperity to the two countries.
The envoy also highlighted the importance of such business exchanges as the two countries are commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
“The Philippines continues to be open for business with an enhanced business climate, and highlighted that now is a great time to invest,” he said.
Philippine Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda, for his part, underscored the importance of the forum in generating interest for the Philippine market.
“The forum generated more interest in investment opportunities in the Philippines, and we are optimistic to have a successful outcome of the investment mission in October,” he said, pointing out that China remains the largest trading partner of the Philippines and is among the top sources of investments.
Citing investment approvals for January to June 2025, China was the 4th largest source of investments, the official added.
During the investment forum, Chinese businesses were briefed on opportunities in electronics and smart manufacturing, green energy, the digital services and economy, infrastructure and construction, transport and logistics, tourism, and agribusiness.
The attendees included 40 enterprises from GIC, representatives from the China-Philippines Chamber of Commerce (CPCC), the Chinese Entrepreneurs Association of the Philippines (CEPA), as well as from BdO China and Liwayway.
According to the embassy, GIC is a non- profit and non-government organization for facilitating international investments leveraging on international resources and experienced experts with ties to business and industry associations worldwide.
It offers consultancy, resource matchmaking, investment landing and trade assistance for multinational corporations, Fortune 500 companies, and leading Chinese companies.
