ILOILO CITY – The league of mayors in Iloilo province has elected another lady mayor as president.
Mayor Suzette A. Mamon of Badiangan took over former Mayor Suzette Trixie Fernandez of San Enrique as the 2025-2028 president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo during an election on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Mamon had the support of Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. She served as the provincial administrator of the Defensor administration during the pandemic.
She assured the LMP-Iloilo under her leadership will be inclusive and collaborative to advance the vision of the 42 town and a component city.
Mayor Maria Teresa “Matet” F. Debuque of Anilao was elected executive vice president. Debuque previously served as LMP-Iloilo president.
Elected vice president for external and special concerns was Mayor Richard Garin of Miag-ao.
Mayors Joe Abad S. Lazaro of San Joaquin was elected secretary, Ian Kenneth A. Alfeche of Alimodian, treasurer; Matt P. Palabrica of Bingawan, auditor; Maria Angelica Bianca Requinto-Espinosa of Estancia, business manager; Maria Jofel M. Soldevilla of Zarraga, public relations officer, and Rey P. Grabato, sergeant-at-arms.
On the Board of Directors are Mayors Janette G. Colada of Guimbal and Vicente E. Escorpion Jr. of Igbaras for the first district; Bonifacio Salapantan Jr. of San Miguel and Maria Lina C. Holipas of Leon for the second district; Elizalde G. Pueyo of Cabatuan and Rafael Enrique P. Lazaro of Pototan for the third district; Gian Carlo Niño P. Fernandez of San Enrique and Robert Martin U. Pama of Dueñas for fourth district, and Jon N. Aying of Sara and Nielo C. Tupas of Barotac Viejo for fifth district.
Mayor Virgilio T. Teruel of Tigbauan, a lawyer, was elected general legal counsel.
