Vehicles stranded as heavy rains flood Katipunan Avenue in QC

Several vehicles were stranded along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, on Saturday, Aug. 30, after heavy rains caused knee-deep flooding that rendered parts of the road impassable to light vehicles.

According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the southbound lane of Katipunan Avenue near Ateneo de Manila University going to Commonwealth Avenue was submerged in floodwaters, leaving vehicles unable to pass.
Other affected areas with knee-deep floods measuring up to 19 inches include the C5 Katipunan–Aurora service road southbound, Commonwealth Winston, Commonwealth Technohub westbound, and Commonwealth Bitoon westbound.
Meanwhile, several major roads such as Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA) Dario, EDSA Centris service road, EDSA North Avenue, and Elliptical Road–Kalayaan Avenue reported gutter-deep flooding of around eight inches but remained passable to all vehicles.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid flooded areas, take alternate routes, and remain alert as rains continue.
As of 3:05 p.m., the Quezon City government reported flooding in various barangays:

Authorities urged motorists to avoid flooded areas, take alternate routes, and stay alert as rains are expected to continue. 
They said the residents may reach the Quezon City Helpline 122 for emergencies.
