CFO relocates to Pasay City to bring services closer to migrants

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has transferred its main office to Pasay City starting Sept. 1, in a move aimed at making its services more accessible to Filipino emigrants.

CFO Secretary Dante “Klink” Ang II confirmed that the new office is on the 9th Floor, Nexgen Tower, C-4 Road, EDSA Extension, Pasay City. Pre-registered participants of the agency’s Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) and Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) are now advised to report to the new site.

In a statement, Ang said the relocation brings the CFO closer to key institutions such as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and several foreign embassies in Pasay.

“Here at CFO, we put our constituents first. We make sure that our primary consideration in big decisions like this is providing greater convenience for Filipino emigrants,” he said.

“We’re always looking to improve our services and how we deliver,” he added.

According to the CFO, the move was also more cost-effective, citing a 10 percent decrease in rental fees, as well as expanded parking spaces for service users and stakeholders.

About 70 percent of CFO employees also reside in nearby areas such as Parañaque, Cavite, and other southern Metro Manila cities, which Ang noted would make the new office more accessible to its workforce.

“We’ll do what we can to make it more convenient both for our constituents and our workforce during the transition period,” he said.

“We’re hoping this move leads to more extension offices to make our services more accessible to outbound Filipinos across the country,” he added.

The Pasay transfer follows the agency’s recent inauguration of its first extension office in Cagayan de Oro to serve Northern Mindanao. CFO also operates offices in Cebu City, Davao City, and Baguio City, alongside service desks at NAIA Terminals 1 and 2.

The CFO, established under Batas Pambansa Blg. 79, is under the Office of the President. It primarily serves permanent migrants, dual citizens, spouses and partners of foreign nationals, participants in exchange programs and au pair schemes, and descendants of Filipinos overseas.

It is distinct from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), which focuses on the needs of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other temporary migrants.
