5 hurt as stage roof in Legazpi City collapses during heavy rain

Five students were injured when the stage roof at Peñaranda Park in Legazpi City, Albay collapsed at the height of heavy rain on Saturday night.
Councilor Vince Baltazar said the victims were practicing when the incident happened at around 6 p.m. They were taken to the hospital and recovering.
Albay Gov. Noel Rosal shared photos of the collapsed edifice on social media.
He said the structure collapsed due to accumulated rainwater on the tarpaulin roof.
Rosal noted that there was no strong winds at that time.
Construction of the structure which was built for P93 million was completed recently and slated to be used for the Albay District Fiesta Parade and Ola Day on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Baltazar thanked authorities led by Rosal for their swift response.
