LA PAZ, Leyte – People lined up the streets to welcome Miss Philippines Earth-Water Angel Rose Tambal on Friday during her homecoming celebration here.
Tambal was met by a hero's welcome as the community came together to celebrate her achievement. She is the first in this municipality to win a crown in a national pageant.
The homecoming celebration featured a vibrant parade that wound through the heart of La Paz.
Spectators young and old waved flaglets and chanted Tambal’s name.
Tambal, visibly moved by the outpouring of support, thanked people for their support.
"Earlier, as I joined the parade and witnessed the colorful and wonderful performances, cheers, and the warm smiles of my fellow La Paznons, I felt so deeply blessed."
She was particularly touched by the children who lined the streets. "Their bright eyes full of wonder and hope brought me back to when I was their age. I saw myself in them — young, full of dreams, sometimes unsure of how far those dreams could go but with hope and trust that we would be able to achieve our dreams."
Tambal shared that her crown represents more than personal success. "I carry with me not just my journey but the hope of every child who dares to dream. So, this crown is not just a symbol of personal triumph but it is a story of perseverance."
Angel works as an engineer for the Department of Public Works and Highways. She represented Leyte in the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant where she landed in the Top 20.
