Manila gov't, NHA distribute cash aid to typhoon victims

A total of 1,144 families living in Districts 1 to 6 and Baseco in Manila that were adversely affected by Typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong in July received financial assistance from the city government and the National Housing Authority (NHA) on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said each family received P10,000 financial aid under the NHA's Emergency Housing Assistance Program and the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW).
Domagoso was joined by NHA General Manager Joeben Tai during the distribution held at San Andres Complex.
According to the national government's tally, the three typhoons brought about P3.75 billion worth of structural damage in different parts of Luzon.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) estimated about P483.69 million in damage to national roads and P24.48 million to national bridges.
Damage to flood control structures accounted for the largest share, amounting to P3.25 billion across the Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region.
A total of 25 individuals reportedly died during the typhoons' onslaught.
