TACLOBAN CITY – The Leyte Police Provincial Office reported a significant decline in crime incidents from Jan. 1 to Aug. 24 compared to the same period last year.
The average monthly index crime rate dropped by 28 percent from 2.41 percent to 1.73 percent.
Police logged 321 crimes against persons and property from 322 last year.
On the other hand, non-index crimes increased to 950 from 812 last year.
The LPPO revealed crime clearance efficiency of 77.25 percent and crime solution efficiency at 72.07 percent.
“These figures highlight the effectiveness of proactive police operations, intelligence-based interventions, and strengthened coordination with communities and partner agencies,” LPPO Director Police Col. Dionesio Apas Jr. said.
The LPPO launched 341 anti-drug operations that resulted in the arrest of 461 suspects, 78 high-value individuals (HVIs) and 383 street-level individuals (SLIs).
They seized 889.61 grams of shabu and 473.08 grams of marijuana valued at more than P6 million.
Apas said that their five-minute response policy continues to demonstrate effective response, especially on 911 emergency calls.
From June 29 to Aug. 24, 27 incidents were acted upon – vehicular accidents, family disputes, illegal activities, traffic congestion, and medical emergencies.
Their accomplishments include a three-minute response to an illegal firearm discharge in Albuera on Aug. 7 and coordinated actions to multiple incidents in the municipalities of Palo, Abuyog, Palompon, and Dulag.
