Jaecoo J7 SHS ready to battle hybrid heavyweights

A new SUV hopes to raise customers’ expectations of what to expect from a car. The Jaecoo J7 SHS officially debuted in the Philippines recently, packed with Super Hybrid technology, versatility in various driving environments, and innovative in-car tech and features.
As the name suggests, the Jaecoo J7 is not just an ordinary hybrid, it’s a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It’s powered by a 1.5TDGI hybrid-dedicated engine, capable of returning 24.4 km/L fuel consumption. It’s paired with an intelligent hybrid system and a high-performance 18.3-kWh battery pack. The result is a total system output of 275-PS and 365-Nm of torque.
Power is routed through its Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that can intelligently switch based on vehicle speed, to balance power output and fuel consumption. This allows the J7 to seamlessly switch between EV, and hybrid mode as needed, constantly adjusting to deliver the best combination of power, efficiency, and performance.
Drive further
Omodo Jaecoo Philippines claims the vehicle can travel up to 1,200-km on a full tank and full battery. The car can drive the car as far as 90-km in EV mode alone. Not content with these figures, Omoda Jaecoo Philippines submitted it to AAP’s Range Verification Test, resulting in the PHEV traveling up to 106-km in pure EV mode, and as far as 1,488-km in combined range.
High-tech interior
Inside, the Jaecoo J7 offers a high-tech and comfortable cabin. The center features a massive 14.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display. Entertainment is care of an eight-speaker Sony premium sound system that supports wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and online navigation. It also manages almost all of the vehicle’s in-car functions like automatic climate control, a 540-degree camera system, and LED ambient lighting. The driver gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
Other amenities include a wireless charging pad, LED ambient lighting, intelligent voice control, a power sunroof, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, full leather upholstery, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Top notch safety
The Jaecoo J7 also comes with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, front collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane-keeping assist, rear-cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, intelligent headlights, and a driver monitoring system.
The J7 also comes with safety features for its hybrid system. The battery pack is equipped with a comprehensive protection system, offering outstanding heat resistance, impact resistance, and water resistance. In the event of a collision, it can cut off power within 2 milliseconds to keep passengers safe.
Unique features
Designed for the young and adventurous, the J7 also has an ace up its sleeve, particularly for those that enjoy tailgate parties or car camping. It boasts of a built-in projector screen in its tailgate that can be pulled down to host outdoors movie nights. It also has a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing owners to plug small appliances to the car, perfect for car camping.
Two variants
The Jaecoo J7 SHS is available in two variants: the Comfort and Premium. The Comfort variant is priced at ₱1,449,000, while the Premium variant comes in at ₱1,549,000. As part of its launch campaign, there’s a special introductory price of ₱1,399,000 for the Comfort variant and ₱1,499,000 for the Premium variant until September 15, 2025. This gives early adopters exceptional value for a premium hybrid driving experience.
With such features, the Jaecoo J7 SHS hopes to replicate its success of leading the hybrid segment in multiple countries, including Israel, Poland, the UK, Spain, Italy, and Malaysia. The Jaecoo J7 SHS is now available for viewing and test drive at all authorized Omoda Jaecoo showrooms nationwide.
