A man who killed a police officer in Taguig City surrendered to police in Bataan on Thursday night, Aug. 28.
The suspect Rocky, 43, of Taguig City appeared before the Hermosa Municipal Police Station in Hermosa town and turned over a 9mm Taurus pistol believed to be the service firearm of the victim, Police Staff Sgt. Ibrahim Macadatar, an N-Max motorcycle, and several IDs.
He admitted killing Macadatar who was assigned to the San Juan City Police Station.
The suspect is under the custody of the Hermosa police station for proper documentation and disposition.
“The voluntary surrender of the suspect and the recovery of the firearm highlight the importance of close coordination among police units. Justice for our fallen comrade must prevail, and we will ensure that due process is observed. PRO-3 remains steadfast in upholding the rule of law and protecting both our personnel and the communities we serve,” said Police Regional Office-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr.
Meanwhile, the alleged leader of the Salazar Criminal Gang involved in drug pushing and carnapping in Tarlac province was arrested on Aug. 26 in Barangay Buenlag, Gerona, Tarlac.
The suspect Julius was considered a high-value individual in the illegal drugs trade.
He was apprehended on a warrant for carnapping with a P300,000 bail.
“The arrest of this high-value individual demonstrates our commitment to protecting our communities from criminal syndicates. In line with the nine-point program of acting chief PNP, Police Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly on crime prevention and effective investigation, I commend the joint efforts of our operating units for their precise execution of this mission. This should serve as a strong message—criminal elements will never evade the law, and justice will always prevail,” Peñones said.
