The incident occurred on Wednesday night, Aug. 27, when the girl reportedly tried to retrieve her slipper that had fallen into the canal along Pag-Asa Street, but fell into the water.
Due to the heavy rains, the water level rose, and the strong current swept her away toward the creek.
Her body was recovered following continuous search and rescue operations conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), together with the Taytay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and rescuers from Barangays San Juan and Sta. Ana, Taytay.
The Taytay municipal government extended its condolences to the victim’s family and thanked the rescuers for their efforts in recovering the girl’s body.
