Three men were arrested by the Cainta, Rizal Municipal Police for climbing over a moving trailer truck and stealing some of its cargo on Ortigas Avenue in Cainta, Rizal on Friday, Aug. 29.
Cainta Mayor Kit Nieto said he received a video showing three men raiding a trailer truck carrying large pieces of steel while cruising along Ortigas Avenue.
According to Nieto, the thieves usually raid cargo trucks that are exiting from Capasco along Imelda Avenue.
They transferred to Ortigas Avenue due to increased police visibility in Imelda Avenue.
After the suspects' arrests, the mayor threatened to remove their families from the list of beneficiaries of the town's housing program.
"Pinapahanap ko ang mga bahay. Kung isa ang pamilya nila sa mga benepisyaryo ng ating pabahay, aalis ang buong pamilya nila sa Cainta at babawiin ko ang binigay ng gobyerno sa kanila. Kasama yan sa kasunduan namin (I have ordered our officials to look for their houses. If their family is one of the beneficiaries of our housing program, their entire family will leave Cainta and I will take back what the government gave them. That's included in our agreement)," Nieto said.
"Pinaprofile ko din sila. Buong pamilya nila eh hindi makakakuha ng kahit anong ayuda sa munisipyo habang ako ang mayor dito (I also had them profiled. Their entire family will not be able to get any aid from the municipality while I am the mayor here)," he added.
The three suspects have been placed under police custody while charges are being readied against them.
