ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Western Mindanao Command celebrated its 19th founding anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 28, at its headquarters in Camp Basilio Navarro here with the theme, “One Command, One Vision: WestMinCom @19 – Towards a Stronger and Safer Tomorrow.”

Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, guest of honor and speaker, cited the vital role of the command in protecting communities, fostering peace, and ensuring stability across Mindanao.

Brig. Gen. Romulo Quemado, acting commander of Wesmincom, stressed that the anniversary is not only a celebration of achievements but also a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect and serve the people of Western Mindanao.

The program started with a formal wreath-laying ceremony at the Dambana ng Kagitingan as a tribute to fallen heroes.

This was followed by the anniversary program at the Wesmincom gymnasium which featured an audio-visual presentation on the history and accomplishments of the command.

Plaques of recognition were awarded to outstanding officers, enlisted, and human resource personnel who contributed to Westmincom’s success.

The activity was attended by joint task force commanders, brigade commanders, commanders of component units, and organic personnel.
