Any lifestyle check that will be done on government officials must be “deep dive” and not merely superficial, Vice President Sara Duterte said on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

In an interview in The Hague, Netherlands, the Vice President agreed with President Marcos’ call for lifestyle checks amid reports of billions worth of anomalous flood control projects.
“Oo! Dapat lang. Dapat lang. At hindi lang yung elected public officials, pati yung mga appointed public officials (Yes! As it should be. And not just on elected public officials, but appointed public officials, too),” she said.
“Hindi lang yung mga yung on the surface na sasabihin natin kung ano yung nakalagay sa SALN, dapat deep dive kung sino yung mga dummy (Not just those on the surface, those already on the SALN [Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth], it should be deep dive including the dummy,” she added.
Duterte likewise called for the dummy accounts of the public officials to be released.
The official also noted that there are many other government projects aside from flood control.
The Vice President, however, refused to give “free advice” to the government and instead insisted to simply watch the administration’s “circus” and “zarzuela.”
Marcos earlier called for a lifestyle check as several government officials were embroiled in the flood control projects mess.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro earlier said that the lifestyle check will start with the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
