This new Makati concept store is a hub for modern Filipino design
BRGY, a new concept store that celebrates Philippine design, has opened its doors in one of Makati’s emerging creative hubs. Located on the 7th floor of One Corporate Center along Arnaiz Avenue, BRGY joins a growing collective of studios and concept spaces that embody modern Filipino lifestyles.
Contemporary Filipino designer Jor-El Espina lends his vision and knack for curating objets d’art to the space. “After opening my atelier on the same floor, I decided to take this space with the intention of doing something creative. It was actually the idea of (fashion director) JR Arce to invite my designer friends and collaborators to be part of this evolving project,” he recalls.
BRGY, an abbreviation of barangay, refers to the smallest yet most fundamental administrative unit in the Philippines. “The concept of a barangay is unique to our country,” Jor-El adds. “For BRGY, we wanted to highlight a small community of creatives and diverse brands.”
Every three to six months, new brands and collections will be introduced. These will be unveiled alongside a curated selection of lifestyle finds—such as furniture from Jed Yabut, photographs by Doc Marlon Pecjo, home décor from Paperbound, and yarncraft by Reverie (of Ria Bolivar).
“The collections we feature in BRGY are exclusive to the concept store and are produced in small batches. The pieces I have here, for example, are completely different from the ones you’ll see at the atelier or pop-ups,” says Jor-El. The same applies to the store’s featured designers, namely Jun Escario, Lorico, and Viktor Jeans. Capsule collections that showcase their range and unique interpretations of contemporary design will also be on rotation.
“We endeavor to showcase new creative discoveries and ideas—mostly fashion continuously, but we are always open to anything design-centric,” Jor-El ends.
BRGY is located at Unit 704, One Corporate Center, Arnaiz Avenue, Makati City. Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
