Hundreds of families in Barangay Tatalon received food packs and essential supplies on Thursday afternoon, August 28, as part of a large-scale relief operation jointly organized by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and the Quezon City government.

The distribution, held at Mabuhay Court near Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School, was led by Mayor Joy Belmonte and FFCCCII Executive Vice-President Jeffrey Ng.
The event also marked the turnover of a P1-million donation from FFCCCII to support relief efforts for typhoon-hit communities in the city.
In her message, Belmonte thanked the Filipino-Chinese community for its generosity.
“Pahintulutan po ninyo akong magbigay pasalamat sa kanila -- sa ating Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Ang daming pong binigay na tulong at suporta para sa ating mga nasalanta (Allow me to express my gratitude to the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce. They gave so much help and support for calamity victims),” Belmonte said.
The event forms part of a citywide relief campaign in Quezon City, covering six districts from August 28 to 29.
Other distribution sites include Quirino 2B, Apolonio Samson, Bahay Toro, Novaliches Proper, and Batasan Hills.
The Quezon City leg is a component of a much broader initiative spearheaded by FFCCCII and the “Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation,” in partnership with 30 Filipino-Chinese community associations.
The groups recently mobilized P10 million worth of essential goods and 50,000 rice packs for families affected by recent typhoons in Metro Manila, Baguio, Pangasinan, La Union, Tarlac, Bulacan, Pampanga, Olongapo, and Palawan.
Addressing the beneficiaries, FFCCCII’s Jeffrey Ng underscored the spirit of bayanihan that drives the relief mission.
“On behalf of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the 'Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation,' it is both our duty and our profound honor to stand with you today,” Ng said.
“Nakikiusap po kami sa inyo: Huwag po kayong mawawalan ng pag-asa. Ang hamon ng panahon ay malaki, ngunit mas malaki ang ating puso para magtulungan... Lubos po kaming naniniwala na ang pagkakaisa ang siyang sagot sa anumang pagsubok ( We beg you: Do not lose hope. The challenges of the times are great, but our hearts are even bigger to help each other... We firmly believe that unity is the answer to any challenge)," he added.
Organizers said that while the relief is citywide, Barangay Tatalon was prioritized because of the severe flooding and displacement it suffered during the recent typhoon.
