NOYNAY
DAVAO CITY – Pwersa ng Pilipinong Pandagat party-list Rep. Harold Duterte on Thursday, Aug. 28, lauded the Philippine Coast Guard and community volunteers for the quick rescue of a fisherman whose boat capsized in rough seas in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur.
Authorities identified the fisherman as Rolly Noynay, who was saved after his vessel overturned. The fisherman is now safe.
The Coast Guard Darong Substation, supported by PPP and Ecological Conservation and Humanitarian Organization (ECHO) volunteers, mounted an immediate search-and-rescue effort that brought Noynay safely back to shore and recovered his boat.
“I salute the swiftness of our Coast Guard and the spirit of volunteerism shown by our fisherfolk. We should always help each other, and they have shown exactly that,” Rep. Duterte said in a statement.
Noynay thanked the Coast Guard and the volunteers for their assistance, particularly his fellow fishermen who helped tow his boat back to land.
