The city government of Pasay City conducted clearing and cleaning operations along major roads in the city to ensure safe and unobstructed passage for motorists and pedestrians on August 27.
The city’s clearing operations team was joined by the Barangay Road Clearing Operations (BaRCO) team, a program mandated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) requiring barangays to clear public roads, sidewalks, and alleys of obstructions to ensure public safety and accessibility.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the clearing team visited Taft Avenue in Arnaiz-Rotonda, targeting illegal structures, roadside vendors, and other obstructions causing traffic congestion and safety hazards.
Rubiano said the team dismantled makeshift stalls, removed garbage around the area, and cleared pathways from illegal vendors to restore cleanliness and accessibility to pedestrians and motorists.
She said the team also visited the center islands and foot bridge along Taft Avenue, Aurora Boulevard, and Andrews Avenue to check on illegal vendors.
The mayor said the BaRCO team will continue to conduct operations in their area of responsibility to maintain cleanliness and discipline in public places.
Rubiano also reminded the public to cooperate by refraining from setting up structures or vending in prohibited areas.
She said the city government wanted to make sure that city roads and sidewalks are safe, orderly, and accessible to everyone.
