The low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) west of Luzon has developed into a tropical depression at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28.
It has been given the local name “Jacinto.”
Jacinto is the 10th tropical cyclone to enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this year.
However, the weather system is already moving away and is expected to exit PAR soon.
Despite its impending departure, PAGASA said Jacinto’s trough or extension is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is also affecting other parts of the country.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Quezon.
The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
