Jeepney crashes into electric post, 16 hurt in Caloocan

Sixteen people were injured after a passenger jeepney lost its brakes and crashed into an electric post along Camarin Road in Barangay 175, North Caloocan, on Thursday, August 28.

The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) said the jeepney was cruising along Palmera Street when the driver noticed that his vehicle's brakes malfunctioned, causing him to lose control of the vehicle which forced him to slam the jeepney into the post.

Responders from Caloocan Rescue and the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD) brought the victims, including the driver, to Tala Hospital for treatment.

As of this writing, authorities have yet to release the names and medical conditions of the victims.

Police are conducting further investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
