Batangas police chief Police Col. Geovanny Emerick Sibalo said in an ABS-CBN online news report that Calalo, 52, was released from the Taal Municipal Police Station around 1 p.m.
Leviste filed cases of Direct Bribery, Corruption of Public Officials, Violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials against Calalo before the Batangas Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.
Calalo has been suspended and Leviste urged him to become a state witness against corruption within the DPWH.
Leviste in a Facebook post on Friday urged netizens to report questionable projects to him.
“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating imbestigasyon sa DPWH projects. May napansin ka bang substandard o kwestiyonableng proyekto ng DPWH sa inyong lugar? Ilagay sa comments section,” he said in his Facebook page Lingkod Legarda Leviste.
